Mental Health and Wellbeing Essentials Workshop

A 3.5 hour workshop that focuses on practical skills and strategies you can use to support better mental health in your own life.

Many people will experience periods in life where maintaining good mental health may be a challenge. By learning the skills to help us navigate these times, we can reduce our risks of developing serious mental health problems, illness and harm.

This 3.5 hour workshop focuses on developing awareness and understanding of our own mental health and wellbeing, so that we can better support ourselves through the challenging times.

Focused on the practical skills and strategies to support healthy thinking patterns, this course aims to build protective factors and promote better mental health for yourself.

This workshop covers topics including:

  • Understanding mental health as a continuum
  • Risk factors impacting mental health and ways to reduce your risks
  • Identifying thought patterns and managing your thoughts to influence behaviours and outcomes (cognitive restructuring)
  • Techniques to manage stress
  • Warning signs you or another person might need support
  • How to access further resources and professional support

At the end of this uplifting workshop, you will:

  • Gain further awareness and understanding of your own mental health and wellbeing.
  • Develop the practical skills and strategies to support healthy thinking patterns that build protective factors and promote better mental health.
  • Learn how you might reduce the risk of mental health concerns escalating.
  • Gain an understanding of when clinical support is required and how to access this support

This workshop is aimed at adults, not children or adolescents.

On successful completion of this workshop you will be issued with a St John Ambulance statement of attendance. This is a non-accredited training course.
