Community Programs

For over 135 years St John has been providing First Aid products and services to Victorian communities when it's time to celebrate and in times of disaster. St John is developing a range of targeted community programs to increase the resilience of at-risk Victorian communities.

First Aid Volunteers at Events

Through constantly improving our practices and procedures, the St John Event First Aid Services team is able to provide the most reliable and best practice First Aid cover at any event.

Our volunteers contributed an enormous 289,038 hours of service in 2015 either at events or training to update their skills.

Membership now sits at 1,701 adults and 468 youths and juniors – a total cohort of 2,169 which is one of our great successes of the year. Learn more about being a St John Volunteer here.

Community Transport Volunteers

The St John Community Transport Service assists meeting everyday needs of people in our local community by being more mobile and having safe and reliable transport.

St John Community Transport Volunteers are trained to deal with a variety of first aid scenarios from applying a dressing through to performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in the unlikely event that this is required.

Communications Officer Volunteers

St John Ambulance is the largest and most comprehensive provider of First Aid & Event Health Services in Victoria and has a team of dedicated Communication Officers supporting our event & emergency management activities.

Communications Officers operate our advanced statewide radio network from Communications Centres across the state, our mobile Command & Communications vehicles or St John field control centres at major venues & events.
