Participants gain the knowledge and skills to provide ongoing care to an ill or injured casualty over a prolonged period of time. It is ideal for remote areas where access to medical aid is difficult or delayed, including alpine, desert, marine, rural and tropical environments.

DURATION

• 2 DAYS - Must have current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate, which has been received in the last 12 months.

COURSE OUTLINE

In addition to the topics covered in the Provide First Aid course, this course covers

• Prepare for first aid response in a remote or isolated site
• Emergency communication methods and equipment
• Management of life-threatening bleeding, including the use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
• Conduct triage for a multiple casualty incident
• Ongoing care requirements of casualty beyond initial treatment
• Co-ordinate evacuation and first aid activities until assistance arrives

• HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in a remote or isolated site
