2025 in Review: A Year of Lifesaving Impact Across Victoria

As 2025 comes to a close, we are proud to reflect on a year defined by growth, innovation and community resilience. Together with our volunteers, staff, partners and supporters, St John Ambulance Victoria has continued to make lifesaving knowledge more accessible, and safer communities a reality across the state.

From expanding first aid education to new audiences, to celebrating major milestones and earning national recognition, every achievement this year has been driven by a shared belief: that everyone deserves the confidence to act in an emergency.

Here are some of the highlights that made 2025 such an incredible year.

Empowering Communities Through Education

Education remains at the heart of what we do, and in 2025 we reached more Victorians than ever before:

  • More than 81,000 students were trained through our First Aid in Schools program, giving young people the skills and confidence to help others when it matters most.
  • Our Kinder Program returned, with volunteers delivering age-appropriate first aid education to young children across Victoria.
  • We trained over 9,000 people in free CPR through our CPR Lab, helping build a community ready to respond to cardiac emergencies.
  • Almost 2,000 students took part in the Party Ready Program, which was proudly recognised with a Resilient Australia Award for its positive community impact.

Investing in Safer Streets and Stronger Neighbourhoods

Access to defibrillators and early intervention can save lives, and in 2025, we continued to expand that access:

  • Werribee was announced as the newest community to join our Defib in Your Street Program.
  • We installed 13 publicly accessible defibrillators across Victoria, helping ensure help is never far away when seconds count.

Celebrating Milestones and Trust

This year also marked important moments of reflection and recognition:

  • Our Youth Program celebrated 100 years in Australia, a remarkable milestone highlighting a century of empowering young people through leadership, service and first aid education.
  • St John Ambulance was once again recognised as one of Australia’s most trusted charities, reinforcing the confidence the community places in our work.

The Power of Our Volunteers

None of this would be possible without our volunteers, who continue to show up for their communities every day:

  • 285 new volunteers joined us as First Responders, Nurses and Doctors.
  • Our volunteers attended over 2,400 events, providing care to more than 32,000 patients.
  • Our Non-Emergency Patient Transport crews transported over 62,000 patients, ensuring people could access vital medical care safely.
  • Through Community Transport, volunteers helped over 502 people get to essential appointments and stay connected to their community.

Powered by Community Support

What makes these achievements even more remarkable is that St John Ambulance Victoria is not government-funded. Every program delivered, every defibrillator installed and every life touched is made possible through:

  • The generosity of donors
  • The dedication of our volunteers
  • The support of people who choose to purchase from St John

Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue delivering free and low-cost lifesaving programs where they are needed most.

Thank You for Being Part of the Journey

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with gratitude and optimism. Thank you to everyone who supported St John Ambulance Victoria in 2025. Together, we are building a future where first aid knowledge is second nature, and where more lives are saved every day.

Here’s to another year of making a difference!

You can be the difference

Your help today could mean that someone’s loved one receives critical first aid, rather than potentially lying unattended on the ground while bystanders are frozen with panic.
