Low Voltage Rescue

This course provides participants with the skills to manage the danger of accidental electrocution. It is primarily designed for electricians.

After successful completion of this course you will be competent to rescue and provide resuscitation to a person who has stopped breathing or is unconscious due to low voltage electrical shock

Duration: Half a day of face-to-face training, which is best suited to people who are new to low voltage rescue or would like to gain in-depth strong life-saving skills.

Assessment only. Two hours face-to-face of short practice and then assessment. This course is for those who are confident in their skills and want to regain their certification. It is appropriate for those who annually complete their training.
Course Outline: The course covers:
  • DRSABCD action plan
  • Infection control
  • Managing the unconscious, breathing casualty
  • Defibrillation awareness
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Introduction to low voltage principles
  • Choking
  • Rescue from low voltage apparatus
  • Legal issues
  • Hazards and risk management

  • UETTDRRF06B Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
St John recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that low voltage rescue skills are renewed every 12 months.
Assessment Information: A successful outcome for this statement of attainment will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including written assessment, observation of simulated and practical activities etc.

You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
