St John Ambulance Australia holds an iconic place in Australia’s not for profit sector having served the Victorian community for over 130 years. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Ambulance Transport Attendants (ATAs) to join our growing team based in Geelong, Bendigo and Mildura.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, ATAs will be engaged in the care, treatment and transport of a client staff base at a particular event in accordance with the SJAPT Quality System and Non-emergency Patient Transport Regulations 2005.
Successful ATAs will be required to work on a selected casual-based roster operating at a variety of events across Victoria.
Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Ensuring full compliance with organisational policies and procedures including adherence to the St John Ambulance Patient Transport Quality System
Acting as the primary carer in the assessment, treatment and transport management of patients allocated.
Performing as part of a team to deliver high quality treatment in a timely, safe and efficient manner
Ensuring compliance with patient care documentation requirements including all aspects of patient privacy and confidentiality
Working under the direction of both internal and third party despatch agencies to deliver quality and timely service
Ensuring vehicles and equipment are in optimum working order and fit for purpose at the start and end of each and every shift
Adhering to all relevant regulations and procedures pertaining to cleanliness and infection control
Maintaining currency of qualifications by undertaking training and updates as required
Playing an ongoing role in support of a zero harm working environment culture
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate:
Strong experience as an Ambulance Transport Attendant in the NEPT Industry
Ability to take a leadership role within the team to ensure high standards of patient care and safety
A proven ability to resolve issues that may impact timely service delivery
Ability to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays
Effective communications skills when dealing with patients, allied healthcare professionals and SJAPT personnel
Able to work reasonable additional hours if required
An understanding of the ethos of St John Ambulance Victoria whilst maintaining an extraordinary professional manner
Candidates will also need to meet:
A minimum 12 months relevant experience working within the NEPT Field preferred
Minimum Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance) or equivalent, Registered Nurse Division 1 with appropriate Ambulance Bridging Course.
Possess a Current Victorian Driver’s license and safe driving record
Ability to obtain and maintain a Current Working with Children’s Check
Ability to obtain a clear Current Police Check
