FIRST AID TRAINING SERVICE AVAILABILITY UPDATE - COVID-19

From Wednesday 25th March – Tuesday 30th June 2020, St John Ambulance Victoria will no longer be delivering training in our public classroom settings in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO OUR CUSTOMERS:

  • Online bookings are open with classes available to book from 1st July through to December 2020. Bookings made for July onwards will also gain immediate access to the free Infection Control eLearning course.
  • Organisations classed as essential services should get in touch with us to discuss the options available to them for onsite training in their workplaces. Contact us on 1300 360 455 or via the onsite enquiry form

For a limited time only, all First Aid training will come with access to our Infection Control eLearning course that participants can complete online in just 45 minutes.

Students will receive a link to the course on their student readiness page.

This course provides practical advice for you and your workplace teams to follow to help reduce the spread of infection such as Coronavirus.

Course outline

This course covers the following:

  • How to manage a first aid scenario
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • An unconscious breathing person
  • An unconscious non-breathing person (includes CPR and use of an AED)
  • Burns
  • Chest pain
  • Choking
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Drowning
  • Asthma
  • Shock

Statement(s) of Attainment

On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support

St John recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months.

Assessment information

A successful outcome for this statement of attainment will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including a questionnaire, observation of simulated and practical activities etc.

You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
