Volunteer Requirements

To become a St John Volunteer, you are required to:

  • Follow St John policies and procedures
  • Undertake ongoing training
  • Complete a National Criminal Records Check (CRC). We'll provide you with the appropriate forms and pay for the CRC on your behalf.
  • Hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Provide two names and contact details for reference purposes
  • Perform first aid duties including CPR
  • Assist in moving and lifting casualties
  • Remain calm in stressful situations
  • Communicate effectively with casualties, team members and the public
  • Take precautions for your safety and the safety of those around you

Be prepared to:

  • Work as part of a team
  • Recognise your limitations and ask for help
  • Have fun and enjoy the experience
