FIRST AID BEST PREVENTION - lessons from Southbank explosion

The explosion at a Southbank worksite on Monday which injured two workers, one severely, highlights the need for sound training in First Aid, according to St John Ambulance.

St John is Victoria's leading provider in First Aid Training.

Stephen Horton, Chief Executive Office for St John, said today the incident in Southbank showed the need to have employees trained in First Aid to allow them to respond quickly to emergency situations as minutes matter in emergency situations such as this.

"St John supports safe work practices and a key tool to such practices is First Aid skills and First Aid kits," he said.

"First Aid training teaches people to identify dangers in the workplace and to protect themselves when assisting an injured workmate."

Mr Horton said St John had special First Aid courses available, in particular its "Work First Senior First Aid" and "Occupational First Aid".

Course Information is available on the internet at www.firstaidforlife.com.au
