To do their job, St John Volunteers need the right tools – manikins to teach lifesaving skills, defibrillators for cardiac arrests and radio communications equipment to coordinate their efforts. Please consider supporting our Volunteers to save lives.

Facts:

• During our peak period from October to March, St John Volunteers will attend more than 3,000 events and treat about 9,000 casualties; an additional 470 will be transferred to hospital for further medical treatment
• The greatest demand on our services will be over New Years Eve when it is expected that we will deploy over 200 Volunteers at events across Victoria
• At mass gatherings, St John deploys a team of medical professionals to provide advanced pre hospital care to those in need
• St John invests heavily in training Volunteers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deal with any emergency
• In an emergency situation such as a bushfire our Volunteers will be immediately deployed into the field. They work around the clock providing medical assistance and saving lives
